Team,
At last week’s Democratic Convention, I cast my ballot for my friend and fellow Vermonter, Bernie Sanders. I am so grateful for his role in making the Democratic Party more progressive and inclusive. I then joined him in strongly supporting Joe Biden’s nomination to be our next president. As Nancy Pelosi often says: our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power.
After watching the bleak and dystopian opening of the Republican Convention, we should be even more energized to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
We must be - the future of our democracy is at stake. Each of us must vote and help others vote, whether by mail or at the polls. Vote!
There is so much we can do - but only if we vote and win in November. We can make government work to help us control the virus, help our families cope with the economic devastation of the pandemic, and move on to the progressive agenda now so broadly embraced by the Democratic Party.
While the Trumpian version of his party continues its racist and divisive rants, we've nominated the extraordinary Senator Kamala Harris, who made history as the first Black and South Asian woman to accept the nomination as Vice President.
I’m hopeful! With our diversity and unity we have the strength to win. But we must win BIG! Team, if you’re with me, and you’re ready to take action together in the most important election of our lifetime, make a commitment to vote today!
By pledging to vote, you are taking a significant step with us to declare that you are determined to stop the tailspin of our democracy - and that you are ready to fight for the future that we can create, working together.
Let’s vote! Let’s win!
Peter
