Friend — I think most people who follow Texas politics are not angry enough.

Let me walk you through what actually happened with Ken Paxton, because I think when you hear it as a story instead of a list of headlines, the stakes land differently.

Ken Paxton was the sitting Attorney General of Texas. A man, his own Republican colleagues investigated, charged with abuse of office, and impeached 121 to 23 in a Republican-controlled House. Those were his own people. They looked at what he did and said: This cannot stand.

He survived the Senate trial. His wife was one of the senators. He walked out of the Capitol and immediately announced he was running for U.S. Senate.
He won a Republican primary against sitting U.S. Senator John Cornyn.
He is now the official Republican nominee for Senate in the state of Texas.

The Texas Democratic Party is going to spend the next 5 months taking the case of GOP corruption straight to the voters. We know that if enough Texans across the political spectrum hear this message, we can win.

That’s why we set an aggressive goal of raising $30,000 more by our FEC public filing deadline next Tuesday. I hope you can see why this is critically important, friend. Will you chip in $35 or even $50 right now? [[link removed]]

A man impeached by his own party for corruption and abuse of office is now their candidate for United States Senate. This isn’t in spite of his record, but because that’s how little the Republicans in power care about Texans.

And now Paxton’s campaign — and the machine around it — is using AI-generated deepfake videos to attack James Talarico. A fake version of our candidate saying things he never said, distributed as a political ad because they cannot beat the real message of his Democratic campaign.

This is what we’re up against. Not a normal political opponent with a different set of policy positions. A man who was impeached is running deepfake campaigns against a Democrat who is too strong to beat on the merits.

If your outrage isn’t higher than it was five minutes ago, read it again. I’ll wait.

We have until June 30 at midnight to show in a public FEC filing exactly what the Texas Democratic operation looks like. Paxton’s people, Abbott’s team, and every national Republican watching Texas will read that number as soon as it’s public. It either tells them this is a real fight or it tells them Texas is winnable on the cheap, and staying in their grasp. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

We are the Texas Dems. We're protecting Texans from Republican extremists and their unending stream of misinformation statewide. Let's be clear, Texas Republicans have drawn district lines to choose the voters they want, and D.C. Republicans have poured tens of millions of dollars in dark money into Texas. We are on the front lines of pushing back against their influence with voters.
Taking Texas back from extremist Republicans is going to take all of us. Will you chip in now to help us elect Democrats who will work hard to represent all Texans, and not just the wealthy few? [[link removed]]
