Have you heard Jeff Fortenberry’s latest boasts about lowering insulin prices? Let’s talk about that.

Over 30 million Americans require insulin every day to live. Pharmaceutical companies and the insurance lobby know this, and they regularly hike up insulin prices to take advantage of millions of Americans with diabetes. This corporate greed is wrong and requires urgent action.

Jeff Fortenberry introduced – not passed – a bill in Congress claiming to make insulin more affordable, and now he’s calling himself a hero of health care reform. But the facts tell a different story.

1. His bill wouldn’t actually solve the problem – it just creates a new loophole.

2. The bill isn’t close to passing. Fortenberry has only passed THREE bills in his fifteen years in Congress.

3. Here’s the big one: Fortenberry has taken thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Pfizer, drug companies, and the health insurance lobby. He voted AGAINST the Protecting Americans With Preexisting Conditions Act and the Lower Drug Costs Now Act. He’s not going to stand up to big pharma – they’re the people paying his bills!

Look, we’re calling BS on Jeff Fortenberry and his political double-talk. It’s time for a REAL advocate for affordable drug costs.
