The SPLC’s investigation into far-right TV host Jack Posobiec’s connections to white supremacists, neo-fascists, antisemites — and the White House — has uncovered links between Posobiec and Donald Trump Jr., who both promoted former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s “We Build the Wall” charity.
Posobiec is a far-right extremist and neo-Nazi collaborator who uses his large Twitter following and his position as a host at One America News Network (OANN) to spread disinformation and to prop up racists and antisemites. Beginning in 2016, his tweets about the now-infamous “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory <[link removed]> boosted his following by more than 9,000 new followers each month. He also put the words “fmr CBS News” in his Twitter bio in parts of 2016 and 2017, but CBS told the SPLC he never worked for the network.
While the Pizzagate conspiracy theory accused prominent Democratic politicians of being part of a child trafficking ring, some of Posobiec’s other posts targeted Jewish reporters with antisemitic hate. At least one post amplified a march held by a modern incarnation of a Polish fascist movement whose members bombed Jewish homes <[link removed]> during the 1930s.
In the sixth installment of our investigation <[link removed]>, we reported that Donald Trump Jr., who served as a headline speaker at the 2020 Republican National Convention, appeared in a photograph <[link removed]> with Posobiec at a We Build the Wall event in July 2019. Trump Jr. has been associated with him since at least 2017, when the OANN correspondent was known primarily for promoting hate and disinformation.
Posobiec also described the president’s son as being “redpilled AF” — slang referring to radicalization — in private messages obtained exclusively by the SPLC.
We Build the Wall reentered the spotlight last week, when federal prosecutors in New York indicted former Trump aide, anti-immigration activist and We Build the Wall adviser Steve Bannon, as well as the charity’s founder, Brian Kolfage, on fraud charges. According to the indictment, the two men committed fraud by misusing nearly $ 1 million in charity funds <[link removed]> for personal expenses.
In May 2020, President Donald Trump praised Posobiec in a tweet: “That’s right Jack. Keep up the good work!” Trump was referring to the OANN host’s boasts on Twitter that the president reads his feed. The president also posted a self-promotional video to Twitter in May, where Posobiec’s face was included alongside Vice President Mike Pence. <[link removed]>
