On May 21, 2026, heavily armed men massacred 20 rural workers in the community of Rigores in the Lower Aguán region in the Colón Department of Honduras.
While the government blames gangs, local human rights defenders and peasant unions reject this and stress that the massacre is a direct result of violent land grabbing orchestrated by powerful global agribusiness interests.

On June 9, the Rural Women’s Assembly (RWA) concluded a dialogue in South Africa, with a declaration that is as analytically sharp as it is politically uncompromising.
Adopted under the theme “We Have Answers: Building Resilient Food Systems,” the declaration brings together voices from eleven Southern African countries. It deserves careful attention from anyone working at the intersection of food sovereignty, agrarian justice, and feminist politics in the Global South.

Rising Attacks, Declining Resources, But Pride Remains
June’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month should be a time for celebration. Instead, communities around the world are facing intense attacks and attempts to drive them back into the closet – or worse.
A new report released this June by the Global Philanthropy Project (GPP) highlights this dire reality.
Not only are trans and other queer peoples facing criminalization, as recent bills and laws in Ghana, across the US, and elsewhere have done. Communities and social movements are seeing philanthropy and governments pull back funding just as these attacks have increased.
