Dear Reader,
This is kind of awkward.
We know you love our work and often read our newsletters. We hope you find them informative, fair, thought-provoking and interesting.
But here's the thing: We're a nonprofit and we need you to do just a little more than love our work. We need you to support that work.
See, the kind of researched, aggressive, ambitious reporting we provide is free to consume but not to create. We make it happen, but people like you make it possible.

Do you support the work we're doing?

Reader contributions help us cover travel for reporters hunting down stories and talking to sources; take our cause to court when public agencies wrongfully withhold records; pay for professional photographers and videographers to tell compelling visual stories alongside our standard written work.
Contributions also pay for salaries, for computers, for data analysis, and for time — the time our reporters need to dig deeper, to listen to the whole testimony, to read to the end of the report, to linger in the schools they cover, and to listen to the children whose stories they seek to tell.
Members receive a host of benefits, including monthly newsletters, the chance to contribute to our coverage, invitations to webinars with reporters, and more. In other words, your donation goes a long way.
Sincerely,
Lillian Mongeau
