Important thing first… Dad joke from Qasim. Cows are the best high school teachers because they are pro-teen.

Big things happening this week! Elizabeth Warren JUST endorsed Qasim!

“Qasim Rashid has dedicated his entire career to the fight for social, racial, and economic justice. From supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, to uplifting people who are incarcerated through prison chaplaincy, and serving children from vulnerable communities, Qasim has demonstrated the leadership and compassion the people of Virginia’s First District deserve. That is why I am proud to endorse Qasim in his effort to flip Virginia’s First District, and I look forward to seeing him in Washington.” - Sen. Elizabeth Warren

We’re also facing our final budget deadline on August 31 before people start voting throughout the district in September. This is the time to give if you have been waiting. If you have already given and have the ability to double down your support, we’d appreciate it! If you have given what you can, thank you for making a difference!

Meet our new Digital Director!

[link removed] [[link removed]]

“Hey everyone in VA-01, my name is Kyle and I recently joined Qasim's campaign as his Digital Director! I've lived in Virginia my entire life, having grown up in Alexandria and gone to school at the University of Virginia. After a string of communications positions across different fields of work, it was time to take action in politics and make a difference in the 2020 election. I spent the past presidential primary cycle co-leading the "Virginia for Pete Buttigieg" grassroots network, running the gamut from generating name recognition and hype online to boosting volunteer presence at over 300 community events across the state. But as Pete, and many of his primary opponents, said throughout: the office of the presidency is not the only one that matters. And so I'm really excited to bring this energy into Qasim's congressional campaign right in my home state. He truly combines fact-based stances with a genuine compassion for his neighbors in the First District, and I am eager to use creative strategies to share that message far and wide.”

Welcome Kyle! He’s a true organizer so he has an ask for you. Take action and send a warm welcome!

“My biggest ask of you all as we near the Election - be vocal about why you love Qasim. Just as we should demand actions from our leadership, we can only make lasting progress if our supporters are also ready to act. Forward on these emails, share our social media posts, spark up conversations with friends and family about why Qasim is the right choice in this election. In my short time on the campaign, it's been clear that when people hear Qasim's message of Compassion Through Action, it makes a real difference.”

We’re making it easier than ever for you to organize online! Join our Digital Squad to get started!

Qasim’s book club! How to Be An Antiracist , Dr. Ibram X. Kendi's best seller, will be our guide for a 5-week discussion on the roots of racism, how racist ideas and policies have shaped our culture, politics, economy, and criminal justice system and how antiracism can help citizens, businesses and government make a more equitable society. Dr. Kendi's premise is that everyone - Black, White, Asian, Latinx, etc., is racist. And thus, we all have something to learn from this important conversation. While Qasim Rashid's campaign is leading the discussion from VA01, Americans across the country can benefit. So, all are invited to learn and share.

Each meeting will feature a guided conversation covering 3-4 chapters. All voices will be heard and respected. In fact, we'll only learn and grow if you Speak Your Truth! So grab a copy of the book and be ready to share!

Building off of Qasim’s promise of transparency in donation requests, we are going to start telling you what our finance team is looking to support this week. Every dollar given here will go towards this ask and will be put in use immediately this week.[link removed] [[link removed]]

"Rural voters are top of mind for me, especially as we released Qasim’s broadband policy. As campaign’s were encouraged to social distance, a lot of rural voters are being left behind when they can’t always attend virtual programming with reliable internet. That’s why I’m focusing on upping our mailers budget (especially to rural communities). Help us have the resources we need for design, printing, and mailing.” - Tino
