“Georgia Republicans Drop Gerrymandering — At Least Til November”

We showed up. We fought back. And we won a key victory. But this fight isn’t over, so we must stay ready to jump back in.

When Gov. Brian Kemp announced a special legislative session to rig Georgia’s voting maps and weaken the voting power of Black and brown communities, we knew what to do: sound the alarm, organize at the grassroots level, and rally Georgians to make their voices heard.

With support from activists like you, on the first day of special session, we helped bring around 500 Georgians to the Capitol to show their opposition. Voting rights advocates, experts, community leaders, and elected officials stood together.

That day, Republican leaders canceled their gerrymandering plans — because they knew rigging the maps would enrage voters, draw more public attention, and create political consequences.

This win was fueled by Georgians who showed up, spoke out, and made their opposition impossible to ignore.

But this fight is not over. Politicians may try to rig the maps in another special session after the November elections — when they aren’t about to face the voters, and before newly elected leaders get sworn in.

Take it from the MAGA Lieutenant Governor as he presided over the State Senate’s special session:
