Last night, we learned that Calvin Swift – District 2's beloved Public Service Aide who has kept Chestnut Street shining for more than 15 years – had been issued a layoff notice.
My office made calls immediately, and I just received confirmation directly from Public Works Director Carla Short: Calvin will not be laid off and the notice was issued in error.
To everyone who contacted us and made their voices heard: thank you. District 2 showed up, and City Hall listened.
Calvin will be able to continue doing the job that he loves on Chestnut Street. Thank you, Calvin, for your dedication and service to our community.
