Our movement made history in 2018 when the people of the MA-07 elected me to represent them in Congress. I have been proud to carry their voices to Washington and fight for progressive issues impacting folx all across our country.
In that time, we have worked together to advocate and legislate for bold, progressive policies — to meet the challenges facing the people in our communities, and to resist the cruelty and callousness of the occupant of the White House and this Administration.
We fought for and secured critical funding for community health centers, introduced legislation to fundamentally transform our criminal injustice system, led the fight to support essential workers, called out discriminatory credit and banking practices, stood up in support of safe, affordable reproductive care, co-founded the Future of Transportation caucus, and so much more.
Even when we take back the White House and the Senate in 2020, we will still be digging ourselves out from the deeply entrenched inequities and disparities that have been exposed and exacerbated by the occupant of the White House and the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we move forward, we need to continue organizing, mobilizing, and legislating for policies that will bring long-overdue change to our communities.
We must recognize health care as a human right by passing Medicare for All, protect our planet by enacting a Green New Deal, create an immigration system that is rooted in humanity and respect, and transform our criminal injustice system by enacting the People’s Justice Guarantee.
We must also ensure an equitable recovery from the COVID-19 that pandemic saves lives and livelihoods. We need better data on our public health response, rent cancellation, student loan forgiveness, paid leave for every worker, a federal jobs guarantee, and recurring cash payments sent to every person in this country to get through this pandemic.
At this pivotal moment, I know that I am right where I belong — in Congress, leading together with you and fighting for our progressive values.
Thank you so much for being a part of the A-Team. I am so grateful to have your support.
In solidarity,
Ayanna Pressley
