Hi there Friend,
We urgently need your help!
Thanks to your petitions to our Nevadan Senators and Representatives in Congress, the Desert National Wildlife Refuge is safe for the time being. The amendment introduced by our Nevada delegation has allowed protection to be granted (for now) for the DNWR, which prevents it from being used as a bombing range for the U.S. Air Force.
The catch is that the space is only temporarily still under the protection of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, since Nellis AFB could still try to exert its influence in gaining the Refuge for its uses at any time. Permanent safeguards urgently need to be put in place to protect these sacred and vulnerable lands from further military expansion attempts.
That’s why we still need your help! Call your Congressmembers and thank them for their efforts at preventing military incursion into the DNWR, and to urge them to immediately introduce legislation that ensures permanent Refuge protection. This is crucial to keeping the Desert Bighorn Sheep and its natural habitat safe, and to preserve the DNWR for future generations of Nevadans to enjoy.
