[1]Letitia James for New York[2]Letitia James for New York
Four years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade through the
Dobbs decision.
For decades, our right to make decisions about our own bodies had been
protected. In a single ruling, the Court handed that right over to
politicians instead.
The damage has been swift. More than half of the country now bans or
severely restricts abortion. People seeking abortion care are being forced
to travel hundreds of miles or delay care altogether. Providers are being
punished. And anti-abortion extremists aren’t satisfied — they’re going
state by state, filing lawsuit after lawsuit to roll back our rights and
freedoms even further.
New York has never wavered.
This state has always been a safe haven for choice, and as long as I’m in
this office, I will use every power and authority I have to ensure it
remains that way.
I have taken anti-abortion extremists groups blocking patients from care
to court – and won.
I fought back against this administration’s retribution campaign on
Planned Parenthood, leading a coalition of 21 states to protect their
funding.
And when the courts tried to restrict access to mifepristone, I led the
fight to protect it.
Four years after the Dobbs decision, our fight isn’t over. Powerful forces
are coming harder for this office with each passing day. They want to
dismantle the legal firewall we’ve built to defend abortion in New York
and stop us from protecting reproductive freedom and the patients who
depend on it.
But I’m no stranger to taking on tough fights. I have never backed down
from protecting our fundamental rights, and I’m not going to now.

to protect reproductive freedom, patients, and providers, no matter who
comes after us?
