Friend,
On last week's Speaking Frankly, we discussed the current controversy surrounding widespread delays and policy changes to the United States Postal Service (USPS). And following Postmaster General DeJoy's testimony before Congress on Monday, we've got some updated information on the USPS's operations.
Among the things we learned at yesterday's hearing:
- DeJoy does not know who ordered changes in postal service procedures that have been implemented since his appointment;
- DeJoy has no plans to reverse those changes;
- DeJoy has been in touch with Trump campaign officials regarding Trump's attacks on mail-in voting; and
- There have been 83 confirmed deaths of USPS essential workers attributed to COVID-19.
Enough is enough. The USPS is essential to the health of our nation as it is responsible for delivering life-saving medicines to those in need, and it also is one of the largest employers of veterans in our nation. We must reverse these disastrous voter suppression tactics, and we must elect leaders who will safeguard the mission and the integrity of the United States Postal Service.
I'm running for Congress to be a public servant and protect our government services that are critical to the strength of our nation and our democracy. Help me get to Washington to implement positive changes by chipping in right now →
Thanks for standing with me.
