Hi John, Luke here.
Following up quickly because I don’t want this to get lost in the shuffle.
Mary Gay just sent you a note asking for something pretty simple, but really important: your perspective on what’s happening right now and what Congress should actually be focused on.
And I want to emphasize something from our end: she genuinely means it.
We’re actively using this kind of feedback to shape what she’s prioritizing in Washington, what she’s elevating in committee work, and what issues she’s pushing hardest on when she’s back in the district.
Because let’s be honest, there’s a lot of sh*t going on right now, and she wants to know what you think about it.
Costs are still way too high. We’re still seeing the GOP in Congress fighting tooth and nail to gut programs people rely on (literally, why is this all they’re about?). There are constant battles over accountability and corruption. And every week, there’s another headline from the White House that feels completely disconnected from what people are actually dealing with at home.
Mary Gay is in the middle of those fights every day — on the Rules Committee, on Judiciary, and in conversations with colleagues about how to actually respond to this moment. But she’s also very aware of how easy it is for Washington to be insulated from reality if you’re not constantly hearing from people outside the building.
That’s where you come in.
So if you didn’t catch her email, I really want to encourage you to take a minute and respond. Tell her:
- What issues are most urgent to you right now?
- What should Congress be focused on?
- Are you seeing the impact of rising costs, corruption, funding cuts, or anything else in your daily life?
- What stories do you think more people need to hear?

Your responses help keep us grounded, and it helps make sure the work we’re doing in Washington is actually connected to the people we’re trying to represent.
Thanks for taking the time, and for being part of this with us.
More soon,
Luke
