John —

Recently, Data for Progress ran a series of national polls about the
popularity of progressive policies — and like we’ve been saying for
months, that progressive platform has some incredibly popular elements:

A Green New Deal has popular support in 44 states. Banning members of
Congress from becoming lobbyists after their terms is popular in every
state in the nation. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders’ bill to
cap interest rates has 69% support from Republican voters.

Here’s the honest truth: if you build a platform that centers
working-class and diverse voices, and fights for economic, social, racial,
and environmental justice, you can break through the partisan divide. So
why are organizations like the DCCC and DSCC attacking progressive
candidates who can mobilize this energy.

[ [link removed] ]We have to fight back, but right now we don’t have the resources to do
it. Justice Democrats is running $4,209 behind our August end-of-month
goal, and we only have a few hours left before the deadline. Can you dig
deep and chip in
$3
right now?

If the Democratic party pivots back towards supporting milquetoast,
centrist candidates that can fund their own campaigns with donations from
their wealthy friends, we’re doomed. Voters and activists can see right
through that charade, because it’s obvious that people like that won’t
fight for people like us.

We need candidates who have lived the struggle — we need to put the people
who’ve been closest to the pain as close to the power as possible.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why Justice Democrats is working hand in hand with diverse,
working-class candidates who center the ideals of social, racial,
economic, and environmental justice in their movements. Will you donate
$3
to help us meet our goal, and support those folks?

Sometimes people ask us, “How can you be so sure that your candidates will
do what they said? Politicians often break their promises.” We know
because they have lived through the problems they want to fix.

We support candidates who want to end Trump’s regime of deportation
because they’ve had family members deported, or have had to work within
the system to try and save people themselves. We fight for candidates who
support Medicare for All because some of our leaders have gone for years
without access to good health care or have lost friends and family because
they couldn’t afford a doctor.

That’s why we need less of these wealthy millionaires in Congress. Why
would they change this nation? It’s already working for them.

But with a new generation of progressive leaders who have struggled — who
have fought to survive — they see a nation that isn’t working for them,
for working-class people, for us. And now, it’s time to hand them the
tools to change that.

Thanks for all that you do,

Justice Democrats
