Friend,
Yesterday, Louis DeJoy testified before Congress, and what he said
should terrify every American.
He was called out for withholding information from Congress about how
his policies will delay mail delivery and disenfranchise millions of
voters. He flatly refused to replace the hundreds of mail sorting
machines he removed in key presidential battleground states.
He was even forced to admit that he doesn't know the price of postage.
And yet despite all this and more, DeJoy remains in charge of the Postal
Service, protected by Trump and Mitch McConnell, with enormous power to
suppress the vote by delaying mail delivery in the middle of the biggest
mail-in election in history.
Listen, this is the most dangerous election we've
ever covered, and in order to ensure the integrity of the result, Common
Dreams is watch-dogging every step DeJoy makes. But in order to fund
this work we absolutely must hit our fundraising goal of $80,000 by
September 1. And we need to do that during the worst economic downturn
since the Great Depression.
Because of the coronavirus economic crisis, many of our most loyal
readers and donors have been forced to cancel their contributions. So if
you are one of those still able to afford a donation during this
crisis--even if it's $5 or $10--please don't just click delete on this
email. Don't put it off. Don't assume someone else will fund our
operation if readers don't. We have no paywalls. No advertising. No
corporate sponsors. Only you.
Donate now to help meet our emergency pre-election Summer Campaign
Fundraising Campaign goal of $80,000 by September 1.
