This hardly ever happens.

The House of Representatives cut short its traditional August recess to reconvene here in Washington, D.C., this past week.

Why did the House do something so extraordinary?

Because Donald Trump had gone on TV and openly admitted that he is trying to disrupt the United States Postal Service in what amounts to a bureaucratic coup d’etat to remain in office.

And on Saturday, the House passed — by a margin of over 100 votes, including 26 Republicans — legislation to provide emergency funding for the Post Office and to reverse service cuts instituted after Republican mega-donor Louis DeJoy took control of the USPS.

But the Senate — under the so-called leadership of Mitch McConnell, who has sole power over what gets voted on and when — remains in recess, with senators scattered who knows where while Trump and DeJoy openly sabotage our democracy.

Tell Mitch McConnell:

Stop playing politics with our right to vote. Stop helping Trump sabotage our democracy. Call the Senate into session and pass the bipartisan legislation your colleagues in the House already supported to make sure the United States Postal Service can do its part in a free and fair election.

Add your name.

Thanks for taking action.

For democracy,
