Team,
Three years ago today, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas, leading to floods that devastated communities across Texas. The response -- everyone coming together across our communities -- gave us all hope that real change was possible.
It’s a stark reminder, as we enter hurricane season in Texas, of why we need to set aggressive goals to fight climate change right now -- because if we wait, it's just going to keep getting worse. In 2008, I flew search and rescue missions in Galveston after Hurricane Ike, and I saw the devastation first-hand -- and just as Harvey was worse than Ike, the next big storm is going to be even more devastating than the last.
Our biggest challenges require decisive leadership from those in positions of power. As we look at the crises facing our country, we just don’t see that from Sen. Cornyn: Joking as a devastating pandemic kills thousands and leaves millions more unemployed in our state, taking zero action to face head-on the increasing threat of climate change, deflecting on pressing matters of policing and criminal justice reform and refusing to say plainly that Black lives matter.
It’s why I’m running for Senate -- but I need your help to win. Pitch in to help me bring bold leadership and real solutions to our biggest challenges to the Senate.
Texas can’t afford six more years of Sen. Cornyn, and I’m counting on you to help me defeat him.
