Hi,

I know that my team and I email you a lot saying, “The path to retaking the Senate runs through Ohio.” You might be wondering what exactly this means – and honestly, why Ohio is so special (I’m biased, of course, but I’ll tell you the electoral reasons).

Right now, we have to flip four GOP-held seats to win back the Senate majority.

I’ll be honest, that kind of math doesn’t usually fend well. Holding onto a battleground seat is hard enough, let alone flipping four of them. 

But here’s the good news: of those four GOP-held seats, Sabato’s Crystal Ball ranks three of them as “toss-ups.” We have the winds behind our sails, and we have the momentum to pull off historic wins this year.

Democrats are winning in places they aren’t usually competitive, and Ohioans in every corner of the state are proving they are ready to show up and demand better. I know that we can win this, but here’s where it gets complicated: The money. And Republicans have lots of it.

The GOP super PAC whose sole purpose is to defend Republicans’ majority is making its largest investment in our Senate race: $79 million and counting. On top of that, we’re staring down a Supreme Court case that could allow national Republicans to funnel virtually unlimited resources into races like Ohio. 

Republicans are putting their money where their mouth is – and they’re saying that no race is more important than this one. Because if we flip Ohio, we can flip the Senate.

I know we can win this fight, but it’s going to take unprecedented grassroots support from folks like you. So please, will you chip in $5 or whatever you can today to help me compete with the GOP dark-money machine, flip Ohio’s Senate seat, and take back the majority?
