New documents expose pattern of abuse at ICA-Farmville immigration jail

Newly obtained Freedom of Information Act documents expose a pattern of brutality and medical neglect by U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement (ICE) and private prison contractor Immigration Centers of America (ICA) at the Farmville Detention Center in Virginia, which currently has the worst COVID-19 outbreak in immigration detention. ICA is the same company which recently failed in its bid to expand and open a new immigration jail in Dwight, Illinois, but is still trying to expand in other communities. See infographics and findings from the documents in our white paper with the Advancement Project, La ColectiVA, Sanctuary DMV, and Detention Watch Network.

"I am thankful to my lawyers, my children, and god for giving me the strength to fight for my survival and win my case. Now, my children can go outside and be safe. I hope that we can reject the proposed rules and continue to allow other asylum seekers the same opportunity," she said. Read Iris' full testimony.
