Dear Friend
New York's Democratic Primary is tomorrow, Tuesday June 23rd. Please vote!
Statewide, there's an election for New York Comptroller. It's an important job! We're voting for Raj Goyle.
The Comptroller controls the state's $300 billion pension fund. In New York, the Comptroller is the sole trustee of the funds. The office has major influence over the corporate world. Yet under the current state comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, the New York State funds have been inert. DiNapoli is a do-nothing, multi-decade incumbent who is running for re-election at 72 after 20+ years in the office.
We're voting for Raj Goyle over DiNapoli because:
✅ Raj Goyle is an energetic progressive change agent who would divest from oil and gas companies, like Exxon, that are torching our planet.
✅ Raj Goyle would stop the funds' investments in Palantir, whose services enable Trump and ICE to hunt down and deport our neighbors.
✅ Raj Goyle would also divest New York from Israeli government bonds, which help pay for the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
These various investments are grotesque morally. They are also a negative financial risk for pensioners. For example, by staying invested in oil and gas companies like Exxon, the current incumbent, Tom DiNapoli has lost billions of dollars in public money because those investments have badly under-performed the broader markets. Taxpayers have to make up the difference from DiNapoli's failed investments.
To give a sense of how badly out of touch DiNapoli is, the man doesn't even use email: he has his staff print out emails so that he can read them. On some level that's endearingly old school. But like with Chuck Schumer and his flip phone, it's a symbol of how out of touch incumbents are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic instead of fighting Trump and fascism. We need energetic fighters, not time-serving Democrats. Let's divest from DiNapoli.
It's time for an energetic change agent: please vote for Raj Goyle for State Comptroller. Thank you.
