Friends,

As a survivor of gun violence, it pains me to have to write this email.

While most of America ate breakfast, our community witnessed traumatic footage of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A Black man shot seven times in the back in front of his three children.

Unfortunately, police violence is a very common threat to Black people across the country. I’ve had guns wrongly drawn on me by police officers more times than I can count.

While most of America checked the weather, the Black community read concerned texts and viewed flooded social media timelines about police attacks on Black lives in America.

While most of America started their work day, the Black community sent up prayers and thoughts for his family and shared the trauma after witnessing these shootings.

Enough.

We must demand action from lawmakers to end police violence and gun violence now. Police violence knows no boundaries. We have seen Black lives lost in nearly every corner of this country, from Phoenix to Ferguson, from Lafayette to Los Angeles, from Kenosha to Anchorage.

Enough is enough. Will you join us?

We are working with partners across the country to demand justice for Jacob, and for all the lives impacted by police violence everyday.

Take action with us today:

  1. Pray for Jacob’s full recovery.
  2. Support local organizations in Milwaukee and neighboring cities that are providing assistance for local organizers in Kenosha like the Milwaukee Freedom Fund.
  3. Text “JUSTICE” to 79606 to get ongoing updates on how to support ending police violence and gun violence year round.

As someone who has been directly impacted by the trauma of gun violence I am asking you to stay in this fight with us.

We need you now more than ever.

In solidarity,

Greg
