The championship comes during an exciting time for New York sports, with major events drawing fans and visitors from around the world to our region. "As New Yorkers celebrate this incredible moment for the Knicks, I also want to thank the law enforcement officers and public safety personnel working behind the scenes to keep everyone safe. Their dedication makes these moments possible. Congratulations to the Knicks and thank you to all those who continue serving our communities every day," Andrew said. As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Andrew remains grateful for the men and women in law enforcement who work every day to protect our communities and help ensure major events across New York are safe and successful. ANDREW IN THE NEWS Andrew highlighted the announcement of nearly $140 million in federal homeland security funding for New York to strengthen counterterrorism efforts, emergency preparedness, and public safety across the state. The funding includes more than $1.8 million for Nassau and Suffolk Counties and will provide law enforcement and emergency management agencies with critical resources for training, equipment, planning, and emergency response. As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Andrew helped lead efforts to secure these funds and continues to advocate for the resources New York communities need to prepare for evolving threats and keep residents safe. Read the Full Press Release WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02 Celebrating Bay Shore's Athletic Legacy This week, members of Andrew's team were pleased to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new exhibit at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library honoring Bay Shore residents who have been inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame. The event brought together local leaders, community members, and Hall of Fame inductees to recognize the lasting impact they have had on generations of Long Islanders. Andrew's team was proud to join in celebrating these remarkable individuals and thanking the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library and the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame for preserving and highlighting this important part of Long Island's history. Honoring Fathers Across NY-02 Today, we celebrate the fathers who work hard every day to support their families and set an example for the next generation. Andrew is especially grateful for his own father and the values he instilled in him growing up. Father's Day is a chance to recognize the support that dads provide throughout our lives. Andrew wishes all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures across NY-02 a happy Father's Day and hopes they enjoy a wonderful day with their families. Recognizing Juneteenth This week, Americans across the country marked Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history, honor those who fought for freedom, and recognize the enduring importance of liberty and equal opportunity. Andrew joins Long Islanders in recognizing this important day and the values that continue to bring our nation together. Casework Highlight: Assisting a Returning Service Member A Long Island veteran recently contacted Andrew's office after experiencing delays in having his VA disability benefits reinstated following a return from active-duty service. After hearing from the constituent, Andrew's team reached out to the Department of Veterans Affairs to help resolve the issue. Following the office's inquiry, the matter was addressed and the veteran's benefits were reinstated.
