John -- Even before COVID, West Virginians were hurting. And they are really in trouble now. About 60% of the people in our state are now facing eviction due to the economic collapse brought on by the pandemic.

But we do not have the luxury of throwing our hands up in despair. People here need someone to fight for them, someone who understands their pain. My opponent, a 20-year incumbent, has been great for her big corporate donors, but ordinary people in West Virginia have almost nothing to show for Shelly Moore Capito’s time in office.

It’s no wonder that 21% of voters are undecided for the general election. This U.S. Senate seat is in play, and our campaign has a path to victory. We’ve scaled our digital strategy to make sure that every voter hears my message and knows they have a choice in this election. And with more Democrats and Independents in West Virginia than Republicans, we can do this.

During the primary, we were down by 15 points against an opponent with national name recognition. We ramped up our hyper-targeted digital outreach strategy, blew up those 15 points, and won a decisive victory by a six-point margin.
