PFAW Member, The Republican National Convention begins today and here are some things you must know:
This Republican Convention is going to be ugly. And we’re answering by QUADRUPLE-MATCHING all donations to defeat Trump Republicans for the entire week!
Here are just a couple of examples of candidates Republicans are fielding this year and what the future of one of America’s two major parties looks like if the GOP wins in November: Marjorie Taylor Green, the Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, is a high-profile purveyor of the QAnon conspiracy theory who made headlines in June when Facebook removed her campaign video in which she threatened antifa—shorthand for anti-fascist activists—while brandishing an AR-15. The foundational belief of QAnon, a bizarre and convoluted conspiracy theory that has picked up a massive following on the Right, is – brace yourself – that prominent Democrats are involved in a global cult of Satan-worshiping pedophiles and cannibals and that Trump is waging a behind-the-scenes battle to stop them. Greene has hailed this moment as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles out, and I think we have the president to do it.” QAnon followers have recently been involved in kidnappings, assaults, and other violent acts. After Greene’s primary victory, Trump tweeted: “Congratulations to future Republican Star Marjorie Taylor Greene on a big Congressional primary win in Georgia against a very tough and smart opponent. Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up – a real WINNER!” A few days later he praised QAnon followers, the same way he has Nazis and white supremacists, attributing the sentiment to the fact that they support him. Laura Loomer, the Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 21st District, stood with white nationalist leaders at her victory celebration. Her hate speech and affiliation with a hate group have gotten her banned from online platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Medium, PayPal, GoFundMe, and more. She harassed U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar at an event, asking, “Ilhan, why did you marry your brother?” She claims the Clintons are responsible for 33 “suspicious deaths” and believes they may be trying to kill her with untraceable poison. And she’s asserted that various mass killings have been “false flag” operations. As the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank noted in a recent column: “Loomer has called Muslims ‘savages,” Islam ‘a cancer on society,’ herself a ‘proud Islamophobe’ and demanded ‘a non Islamic form of Uber or Lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver.’ She says she wants more migrants to die. … “You might think Republican Party leaders would be calling in the white coats. But there was Roger Stone, the Trump confidant whose prison sentence the president recently commuted, at Loomer’s victory party, calling her the ‘Joan of Arc of the conservative movement.’ Loomer told supporters that Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel congratulated her as a ‘political rock star.’ The state and county GOP embraced her publicly.” [2] As you can see, the stakes are incredibly high and we need to send a clear message in this election that America REJECTS this type of dangerous hate and extremism. All donations the week of the Republican Convention will be 400%-MATCHED! Thank you for standing with us in defense of democracy and the American Way against hate. -- Ben Betz, Sr. Director of Digital & Organizing Sources: [2] "Trump’s Republican Party now has a ballot full of nutters," Washington Post, August 19, 2020
