John, David’s story is one that no person should ever have to experience.

He was 17 years old when a gunman walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, with an AR-15 and took the lives of 17 students and educators, injuring 17 others.

No one should have to live through that kind of horror. And we should never have to depend on people surviving tragedy before our country decides to change.

This is our “documentary moment”. A sliver of time where every action we take has the power to shape what comes next. Saving each other depends on people willing to speak plainly, challenge the status quo, and imagine something better together.
