Africa & Europe
This month marks ten years since the life of Dorothy Acen, an IJM Uganda staff member, was taken in an act of intimate partner violence. Pray for her family, friends and colleagues, that God would comfort them and strengthen their resolve to protect vulnerable women and children in her memory. Pray that Dorothy’s story will encourage those facing violence to seek help and move justice actors to respond with wisdom and urgency.
South Asia
Please pray for a 39-year-old woman who was rescued this week from bonded labor thousands of miles from her home. She had been lured from an impoverished tribal community and forced to cook and clean in a wealthy family’s home. They had kept her isolated for over two years until her sister convinced authorities to intervene. Please pray for this dear woman’s recovery and pray for IJM staff as they work across states to seek accountability for her abuse.
Asia Pacific
Praise God for a meaningful gathering in Cambodia where survivor leaders bravely shared their experiences with provincial leaders. Their voices are helping inform and guide efforts to combat trafficking and forced labor. Give thanks for the strong support shown toward survivor-led solutions. Pray for continued unity and wisdom among leaders and survivors, and for these voices to bring protection, healing and safer futures for vulnerable communities.
Latin America
Praise God for the survivor leaders in El Salvador who bravely shared their wisdom during a recent advocacy workshop, helping others understand how women and children facing violence seek safety and justice. Their honest insights shaped a communication strategy that honors their lived experience and will guide community efforts throughout the year. Pray for continued protection, healing and strength for these survivors as their voices lead others toward hope and restoration.
