JOHN,

For 21 years, I flew F/A-18s off the deck of an aircraft carrier. On February 28, we launched those same jets off the USS Abraham Lincoln — and Donald Trump began his war of choice against Iran.

He never asked Congress, nor did he make the case to you, the American People. It was his choice, his decision, his war.

Three and a half months later, at least 13 Americans in uniform are dead. A fighter crew was shot down over Iran. Our bases across the Gulf came under missile fire and drone attack. We burned through billions of dollars in munitions and downed aircraft. And when the Strait of Hormuz shut down, gas and grocery prices climbed for every family back home.

And here's the part that should make you angriest: Congress could have stopped this. They should have stopped this.

This month, the House voted on whether to make this President come explain his war. Rob Wittman — who sits on the freaking Armed Services Committee — voted no. He voted to let the President wage war alone, while leaving the taxpayers with the check.

I’m running to defeat Wittman and put a check on this out-of-control administration. Can I count on you to join my team by donating to my campaign today? [ [link removed] ]

This week, Trump is signing the deal that's supposed to end this conflict.

So what did that sacrifice of blood and treasure buy us?

Iran keeps its nuclear program. It keeps its missiles and drones. The IRGC have tightened their grip on power. The blockade comes down. Sanctions ease. As much as $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets and $300 billion in reparations go back on the table. The man who demanded "unconditional surrender" gave up the store — and is calling it a victory.

I've sat in that cockpit waiting for the order to launch. I know exactly what we ask those crews to risk. They deserved a mission worth the risk. Instead, they got a war one man started on his own and a deal that handed the other side what it wanted.

The only thing that checks a President this reckless is a Congress willing to do its job. That's the majority I'm running to build — and I'd bring 21 years of doing this work for real to the seat.

If you want someone in that chair who's actually flown the missions and will make this President answer for them, please chip in to my campaign to help me defeat Rob Wittman and place a check on this reckless President. [ [link removed] ]

He started the war. We buried the dead, paid the bills, and watched him hand Iran exactly what they’ve always wanted. The next catastrophe can only be stopped by a Congress with a spine.

I flew those jets. I'll answer for them. This President and Rob Wittman never will.

Thank you,
Jason Knapp
