Today, we join communities across our state and the country in celebrating Juneteenth — marking the historic day when the news of liberation finally reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas.

It’s a day of deep reflection, celebration, and a powerful reminder of what happens when we refuse to back down in the fight for true freedom.

But as we celebrate how far we’ve come, we as Arizonans also look at the work still ahead. We know that freedom is a living, breathing promise — one that must be protected on the ground every single day. From Bisbee to Bullhead City, our community thrives when everyone has a seat at the table, a voice in our democracy, and the power to shape our future.

The truth is, our progress is fragile. The anti-Arizonans on the other side are working overtime to restrict voting access, roll back our rights, and dismantle the election integrity we’ve fought so hard to defend. And with our state sitting at the ultimate center of the national map, the margins couldn't be tighter.

The road to preserving American democracy runs directly through Arizona — and it requires a team effort. We > me, always .
