Folks -- I wanted to give you an update regarding the wildfires across California that have threatened homes and caused the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents in the last several days.
I have declared a statewide emergency. We’re deploying every resource available to respond to these fires, exacerbated by a historic heat wave. If you live in an affected area, please stay safe, alert, and heed all warnings from local officials.
I’m so grateful for our firefighters and first responders on the frontlines keeping us safe, and for all the volunteers who have stepped up to help everyone impacted stay safe, cool, and healthy during this time.
2020 has thrown a lot at us. A pandemic. Lightning strikes. Record heat waves. Fires. But if there’s one thing I know about California, it’s that we are resilient -- we’re always willing to lend a hand to lift each other up.
If you’re able, please consider making a donation of any amount to the California Fire Foundation. The foundation provides critical support to surviving families of fallen firefighters, firefighters, and the communities they serve, including providing aid to victims of fire and natural disasters.
