West Virigina Age Verification Took Effect June 12
West Virginia’s age verification law, HB 4412 ( [link removed] ) , took effect on Friday, *June 12, 2026*. Sites accessible in West Virginia should review the law and take steps to comply in order to avoid potential enforcement. Under the West Virginia law, any site with 33 1/3% sexual material harmful to minors is required to age-verify visitors. Approved methods include digital identification, government-issued ID, or a commercially reasonable system that verifies age using public or private transactional data. FSC Speak Out: Letting Creators Tell Their Own Stories
The Free Speech Coalition and EPA United have launched FSC Speak Out ( [link removed] ) , a new media campaign that puts the voices of adult creators at the center of conversations about the industry. The project features interviews with 22 performers sharing their experiences, the opportunities they have found through their work, and the challenges they face navigating stigma and discrimination.
Throughout the summer, FSC will release creator-led videos and stories addressing common misconceptions about the industry and the real-world impact of policies targeting adult workers. Anti-Porn Senator Introduces Federal Age Verification Bill
Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) has introduced the SAFE for Kids Act of 2026, a federal age verification bill that would require websites to verify users’ ages if more than one-third of their content is deemed “sexual material harmful to minors” by the FTC. The bill would give the FTC and Department of Justice authority to enforce the law, including civil penalties, criminal charges, and private lawsuits against site operators. European Court Allows France's AV Checks On Foreign Porn Sites
The European Union’s highest court has ruled that France can enforce its age verification law against adult websites based in other EU countries on a case-by-case basis. The Censors Are Wrong. Adult Content Is Tamer Than Ever.
A new analysis from SWR Data argues that claims about pornography becoming increasingly violent or extreme are not supported by available data. Drawing on creator surveys, the report found that roughly 70% of creators primarily produce solo content, suggesting that much of today’s adult content is relatively mainstream and creator-driven. The authors argue that narratives about “extreme” pornography have been used to justify censorship, deplatforming, financial discrimination, and stricter regulation of adult content online.
