Hi Friend,
This week, we recognize two meaningful occasions: Father's Day and Juneteenth.
Father's Day is a time to celebrate the parents, caregivers, and mentors who help shape our lives. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the generations who persevered in the pursuit of freedom, dignity, and opportunity.
While these observances have distinct histories, both remind us of the importance of legacy—the values we pass on, the opportunities we create, and the future we build together.
At Orbis, we see that legacy every day. When a child receives sight-saving care, when a parent can watch their child learn and grow, and when communities gain access to quality eye health services, lives are transformed for generations to come.
Meet Mukthar, a bright three-year-old from Kumasi, Ghana. A cataract in his left eye forced him out of school and took away his confidence.
With your support, Mukthar received sight-restoring surgery at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. His father, Ayariga, shared, “It’s life changing. The surgery has opened up new possibilities for him.”
Thank you for helping children like Mukthar experience school, playing, and exploring the world around them—and the joy of seeing their loved ones.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Team Orbis
