Josh Turek's story is one of a fighter.

Born with spina bifida after his father's exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam while serving in the Navy, Turek had undergone 21 surgeries by the time he was 12. He grew up poor in Council Bluffs, relying on free lunch programs just to get by. Later, he found wheelchair basketball and rode it all the way to four Paralympic Games, winning back-to-back GOLD medals for Team USA.

When privatized Medicaid started denying Iowans the wheelchairs and mobility devices they needed to survive, Turek got mad enough to run for office, becoming the first permanently disabled member of the Iowa Legislature.

In 2022, he won his State House race in one of Iowa's reddest districts. By six votes.

Then he did it again, winning by five points.

Now Josh Turek is running for the Senate seat once held by Tom Harkin, promising to bring "prairie populism" back to Iowa and fight for working families over billionaires.

Make no mistake. Turek's grit-over-everything story is exactly the kind of candidate who can flip a red state blue.
