Equali-TEA is Brewing in the Commonwealth!

We have been blown away by the community response to our summer engagement series, Legislative Equali-TEA! Nearly 400 LGBTQ Virginians and allies took our survey and shared their stories and lived experiences with us. We are so grateful to have heard from so many of you and we’re even more excited to get to work – advocating for the issues that matter the most to you.

The equali-tea  is continuing to brew, and we are eager to work together to prepare for another successful General Assembly session. We encourage you to join us and invite a friend to our follow-up community conversations on August 26th at our virtual town hall and September 2nd as we create a 2021 legislative action plan.

Check out our Follow-Up Events!

Engage in the Virtual Town Hall
Wednesday, August 26th from 6:00-7:30pm

Based upon the responses we received on our community survey, we know that so many LGBTQ Virginians, especially those who are transgender and people of color, continue to fear for their physical and emotional safety when participating in everyday activities, such as visiting the doctor's office, going to work, and even just walking down the street.

On August 26th, we’ll address these experiences when we Engage at our virtual town hall. There, we will share the results from the community survey, discuss the discriminatory experiences LGBTQ Virginians are currently facing, and review the issues you want to see addressed legislatively.

Advance LGBTQ Rights 2021 Action Plan
Wednesday, September 2nd from 6:00-7:30pm

Many Virginians, particularly LGBTQ people of color, continue to face discrimination in their daily lives. We must advocate for those who are most impacted by discrimination in order to Advance LGBTQ rights for all  Virginians. That's why we're getting a jump-start on the 2021 General Assembly session.

Join us on September 2nd for an interactive session where we'll break out into groups to discuss: HIV law modernization, LGBTQ youth in out-of-home-care, the LGBT panic defense, and much more. We'll be joined by experts in these areas to discuss potential bills and offer opportunities for you to get involved.

For your security, registration is free, but required.

By engaging in our Legislative Equali-TEA series, you get to decide what we tackle next at the General Assembly. All of this preparation will help us get ready for another successful and historic legislative session, but we can't do it without you. We are looking forward to spending some quali-tea time with you soon!
