John,
In 2018, I was the underdog candidate. Poll after poll had me down in the run up to Election Day, and political forecasters thought I would lose.
All the naysayers only made my team and I determined to work that much harder. We organized in every corner of the district -- and in the end, we WON by just over two points, defying expectations and polling.
But it's one thing to run as a first-time candidate who's under the radar -- it's a completely different story running as a freshman Democratic congresswoman defending one of the most competitive districts in the nation.
Now I'm a top target for national Republicans -- they've already spent over half a million dollars on negative attack ads against me. We'll need to fight even harder to defend this seat in 2020 -- so if you're able to, I'm asking you to make a contribution to my campaign now that we're one week away from our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline >>

I don't want to let my team down -- I want to ensure that they have the resources and support they need to do their jobs. Your contribution will be critical to the success of our grassroots operation so that we can reach voters where they are.
Thank you for stepping up,
Elaine
