Medicaid helps children, families, people with disabilities, seniors and nursing home residents get the care they need.
Social Security is a promise that Americans have paid into their entire working lives.
These are lifesaving programs — and now Republican leaders are openly talking about putting them on the chopping block.
Our race is one of the most competitive House races in the country. Political experts have called it a toss-up, and national Republicans are spending heavily because they know flipping this seat could help them hold their House majority.
If Republicans flip this seat, they'll gain one more vote for their agenda to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
I believe we should protect these programs, not gut them.
I've spent my career fighting for South Texas families, seniors, veterans, and working people. And I won't stand by while politicians in Washington try to balance the budget on the backs of the people who can least afford it.
