Commissioners approve changes to start of spring turkey season
A strutting tom turkey in spring
Nebraska's spring turkey season will look a little different, after changes were made at a recent Commission meeting.
Season dates were shifted forward, which better fits the time when turkeys disperse from their winter flocks. Visit our website to see the new dates and learn about other topics that were discussed.

Fort Robinson partially reopens after wildfire
Fort Robinson State Park has partially reopened, after a temporary closure due to wildfire risk. While portions of the park remain closed, the park’s lodge, cabins, activity center, Sutler Store, Post Playhouse, restaurant, and historical tours are now open to guests. When you visit, check with staff about opportunities in the park.

Nebraska Birding Bowl winner gives back
Throughout May, birders of all ages and skill levels participated in the Nebraska Birding Bowl, observing as many species as possible.
Names were drawn for prizes, and our $1,000 prize winner, David Cunningham, made a generous choice: He decided to donate his prize money to the Wildlife Conservation Fund [ [link removed] ]. This donation will directly support nongame wildlife research, conservation, and education efforts across Nebraska, including future Birding Bowls.
