Folks, on paper, Democrats are winning.

That’s good news – but we can’t get complacent.

Yes, Trump's approval is at an all-time low. Yes, Democrats are up in the generic ballot. Yes, history says the president's party gets walloped in the midterms.

But I've run enough campaigns to know numbers like those create a false sense of security. People might think our work is done. It isn't.

I’m running this race the way I’ve always run – getting out there, talking to Virginians about the issues they’re facing, and humbly asking them to rehire me. And I’m not taking a single vote for granted.

But this year, Donald Trump and his allies aren’t running a normal playbook, and they’re hard at work stacking the deck in their favor.

Trump and Republicans are gerrymandering maps across the country, netting them House seats and narrowing Democrats’ path to majorities in Congress. The president is still peddling wild conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, even weaponizing government agencies to investigate voter rolls and raid voting-rights groups. And national Republicans are sitting on a massive financial advantage over Democrats – to the tune of $600 million.

Add it all up and you can see why I won't trust the polls. The national trends look good, but the math on the ground says this is still an uphill fight for Democrats to flip control of Congress.

The only way we win it is by out-organizing Donald Trump and national Republicans. That's our plan in Virginia, and it's why your support matters right now.
