Hi John,
Last night, after primary runoffs and intra-party battles between
Trump-endorsed and establishment Republican candidates, Georgia
Republicans finally picked their nominees for Senate and governor—which
means the Democratic nominees in those Swing Left target races officially
have opponents for the general election.
Senator Jon Ossoff will face GOP Representative Mike Collins, and in the
race for governor, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will face
Lieutenant Governor Rick Jackson.
These are going to be hard-fought races. Ossoff is the only sitting
Democratic senator running for re-election in a state Donald Trump carried
in 2024, and Collins is Donald Trump’s handpicked candidate. He’ll benefit
from the national MAGA network flooding the state with cash in his
support.
And in the governor’s race, Bottoms will be working to flip the governor's
mansion, cement Georgia's status as a true battleground, and give
Democrats a critical check on Republican power in the South. Her opponent,
billionaire Rick Jackson, who has claimed that he will be like Donald
Trump “with a Southern tone”, will also have plenty of resources to put
into attack ads.
That means the support of the Swing Left community will be critical to
getting both Ossoff and Bottoms over the finish line. And with Election
Day less than 5 months away, time is of the essence.

Raphael Warnock and I built a winning movement powered by grassroots
organizers and volunteers. Those historic victories inspired the nation
and delivered the Senate majority, and now Georgia must once again light
the path out of darkness. I'm grateful for Swing Left's support in this
fight as my campaign continues to build the massive momentum needed to win
in Georgia this November.'
Georgia is one of our must-hold Senate races. Democrats need to gain 4
seats to take control of the Senate, and that starts with defending every
Democratic incumbent.
The governorship here is also critical. Since Republicans hold a full
trifecta in Georgia, they currently have unchecked control over a state
that has become a true presidential and Senate battleground. Winning the
governor’s office would break that trifecta, giving Democrats a critical
veto over any Republican efforts to restrict voting access, redraw
district maps, or tilt the playing field ahead of 2028.
If you want to take action to help Democrats like Jon Ossoff and Keisha
Lance Bottoms win this November, one of the best ways to do that right now
