We have heard directly from employers across the Capital Region that they need insight into how other companies are planning to reopen and greater confidence in the region’s transit system in order to safely return employees to worksites. Transportation agencies need to know when employees are expecting to return to worksites to better meet demand.
EY and the Greater Washington Partnership have partnered in a regional transit data project.The project launched on August 12 and is made up of two components: a 10-minute employer survey to collect a snapshot in time of return to worksite plans, and a report of the survey findings after it closes on August 28. The goal is to help our region plan for returning to the office safely.

Dominion Energy has partnered with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce to expand its EnergyShare program that assists small businesses impacted by COVID-19. They have pledged $500,000 to help provide energy bill relief to small businesses, non-profits, and houses of worship.
To be considered eligible, you must meet the following criteria: must be a for-profit business owned and independently operated, a non-profit with 501(c)(3) status, or house of worship, have a past due Dominion Energy electric bill, have an annual electric bill amount of $15,000 or less based on 2019, must be licensed to do business in Dominion Energy’s service territory with an active, business account separate from personal account(s), certify business has loss of revenue due to Coronavirus, employ 50 or fewer people as of January 1, 2020. Applications open on September 1.

Last Tuesday, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Premier Partner Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and Co-Hosts Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Prince William Chamber of Commerce, and Northern Virginia Regional Commission hosted the Fifth Annual Northern Virginia Regional Elected Leaders Summit. Business, government, and community leaders from across the region gathered virtually for a moderated discussion among Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Penny Gross, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Koran Saines, Prince William County At-Large Chair Ann Wheeler, and Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson. NBC4's Northern Virginia Reporter, Drew Wilder moderated the program.
The elected leaders discussed COVID-19 impact and response, education, technology, workforce development, housing, transportation, and economic development in the Northern Virginia region.

Cultural equity is consistently cited as a major problem in the arts and theater industry. The recent “Black Lives Matter” protests and calls for theaters to put their “statements of support” into action has focused even more light on this issue. A major impediment to achieving more diversity in the arts and culture industry is that while all agree that concrete changes must be made, there has been a lack of insight into how and what these changes should entail to garner results. Embracing Arlington Arts wants to fill that gap.
