Defense and Foreign Policy Legislation
In recent weeks the House and Senate passed major foreign policy and defense spending bills, which will still need to be reconciled between the two chambers. Key provisions passed with ADL’s support are noted in a letter to Congress related to fighting antisemitism, combating extremism in the military, and supporting military aid to Israel.

Party Platform Submissions
On July 15 and 16, ADL sent non-partisan letters to the Republican and Democratic National Convention Platform Committees submitting ADL's broad array of domestic and international policy recommendations.
In a letter to Chairman Jim Risch (R-ID) and Ranking Member Bob Menendez (D-NJ) of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, ADL raised concerns regarding reports of Col. Macgregor's highly troubling past remarks downplaying the importance of commemorating the Holocaust era, exaggerating the views and influence of “people who call themselves neocons,” as well as derogatory statements about Muslims and immigrants.

ADL Expressed grave concern on use of federal law enforcement in Portland and elsewhere
ADL called on the Department of Homeland Security and the Trump Administration to immediately cease excessive, unilateral federal law enforcement operations in Portland, Oregon and urged members of Congress to hold hearings to probe allegations into the use of unwarranted force and dangerous tactics against protesters there. | |
