Fourteen years ago, the Obama Administration created DACA and gave hundreds of thousands of young people a chance to live, work, study, and contribute in the only country many of them have ever known. Today, that promise is under attack again.
Across the country, DACA recipients are waiting months for renewals that used to be routine. That means people who follow the rules and do everything asked of them are being left without answers. For many, a delay can mean losing a job or the stability their families depend on.
In San Diego, this is not abstract. Our community has thousands of DACA recipients in our region.
Trump and Republicans in Congress are pouring billions more in funding into ICE and CBP while families in San Diego and across the country live in fear of aggressive enforcement, family separation, and a system with too little accountability.
Scott believes immigration policy should be comprehensive, fair, practical, and humane. That means protecting Dreamers, fixing broken processing systems, and treating people with dignity.
