MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." MCRGO MONDAY E'NEWS New Instructors Needed Michigan Concealed Pistol License classes are extremely sought after this year. While MCRGO instructors usually certify 100-150 students on a typical weekend, this summer's certifications have often exceeded 500 per week. Many instructors have classes book full through the fall. MCRGO is desperately in need of new instructors to meet the increased demand. We anticipate high student numbers through next year due to both the national situation and MCRGO's recently launched five month marketing campaign. People become MCRGO CPL Instructors for a variety of reasons. Assisting others in obtaining their concealed pistol license is perhaps the most important thing you can do to defend self defense rights in our state. About 70% of our instructors transition to MCRGO from a national agency. MCRGO’s instructor program is developed by instructors and is designed to make teaching students as simple as possible. Program administrators are easily accessible to instructors with fast, personal replies to questions and suggestions. MCRGO’s program is Michigan specific and is focused on carry outside the home. There is no cost to apply to become a MCRGO instructor. The fee to register for a two day instructor workshop varies with the workshop and pays for compensation to the trainer, materials, venue rental, and MCRGO’s liability insurance. Most workshops take place on the weekend. They are held at various locations around the state. You may seek price information from the contacts listed underneath the upcoming scheduled workshops listed HERE. Certification is valid for two years. Online renewal after two years is $25. There is no need to order materials from MCRGO. Instructors set their own class rates and pay MCRGO $10 per student which includes access to student certificates, all training materials, and a 1-year membership for the student. It also includes access to a video to teach the legal portion of the class. Before a MCRGO instructor candidate may attend an instructor workshop, they must first apply to MCRGO, become an approved instructor candidate, and then pay the workshop registration fee to the Master Instructor teaching the workshop. MCRGO’s CPL Program is managed digitally. MCRGO instructors are expected to have a basic understanding of computers including an e-mail address, the ability to download and display a PowerPoint presentation and video, and acceptance of PayPal as an online payment system. All communication with MCRGO regarding the training program is by e-mail. Full details on how to become an instructor can be found HERE.
