John,

One hundred years ago, white women were guaranteed the constitutional right to vote in the United States. Decades later, after hard fought civil rights victories, women of color were finally afforded the same rights.

Here at MCV, we stand in honor of the suffragists who fought for the critical laws that protect voter’s rights: Susan B. Anthony. Mary Church Terrell. Adelina Otero-Warren. Lucretia Mott. Seraph Young. Alice Paul. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee. Zitkála-Šá.

Today, as we honor those before us, we face yet another threat to our right to vote. The Trump administration’s systematic attempts to suppress our votes — during a pandemic, no less — would enrage the brave women who fought so hard for equal access to the ballot.

We're enraged, too, and we won't stand for it — but we need your help. In this important election year, MCV is doubling down on efforts to promote absentee voting and recruit poll workers to ensure Maine people do not have to choose between protecting their health and exercising their right to vote.

If you are able, please click here to make a donation today to our voter protection efforts across Maine. [[link removed]] Your contribution today will go a long way to ensure more Mainers can safely and securely cast their ballots.

We can't take on this fight alone, and the role that you and I play to ensure voter turnout couldn’t be more important than it is right now.

Thank you for ensuring voting rights in Maine!

Beth
