Friend -- I've got an important update in the fight for Democratic control of the Senate:

President Trump's hand-picked candidate, Jason Lewis, just announced that he's going after Democratic Senator Tina Smith's seat in Minnesota -- a state that Trump nearly won in 2016.

Lewis is a former congressman who repeatedly sided with powerful special interests over the people of Minnesota, voting at every turn to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions and give tax breaks to big corporations. You can bet that he'd vote in lockstep with Trump and Mitch McConnell, given the chance.

Tina needs our help now. Please, rush $10 or more, or as much as you can, so we can defend her Senate seat and keep Minnesota blue before the end-of-month fundraising deadline.

As a conservative talk-radio host, Lewis dubbed himself "America's Mr. Right" -- but his rantings about women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community earned him another, more appropriate nickname: "Mini-Trump." He's referred to "young single women" who care about contraceptive coverage as "without a brain," and lamented that he couldn't use "stronger words" to describe women on his show.

Meanwhile, Tina's been hard at work fighting for issues that matter to all Americans: campaign finance reform, supporting America's farmers, and making healthcare and prescription drugs more affordable. Right now, she's leading a bipartisan effort to lower the cost of insulin products to make sure no one has to ration their insulin -- and risk their life -- because they can't afford it.

If we can keep her in the Senate, Tina will help us make even more progress. But she needs our help.

President Trump recently vowed (on Twitter -- where else?) that he would win Minnesota in 2020. And you can bet that Lewis is going to have big checks from special interests, wealthy donors, and dark money organizations flowing in.
