Urgent Action Needed Now

Dear Michigan Friends,

We have an urgent request: Can you please send emails and voicemails to the offices below today? Our Lansing Legislators need to hear from you TODAY that "we do not want assisted suicide in Michigan."

ISSUE SUMMARIZED:

We shared earlier that there was a bill package introduced to make Assisted Suicide legal in Michigan. (Yes, it is true.)

House Bills 5825-5828 (Democrat sponsored) would repeal Michigan’s safeguards against Assisted Suicide and put loved ones at risk.

Why this is bad: Those who support assisted suicide will try claiming that this is a way to do “Death with Dignity” or provide “Compassionate Care." They are wrong.

It devalues human life. It puts a death target on our disabled and fragile communities. It is also helps making an easier, less expensive alternative for the insurance industry.

WHAT ACTION IS NEEDED:

We learned that our Michigan State Representatives, especially those serving on the House Government Operations committee (where the bills are parked) are getting flooded with "pro-assisted suicide" emails and phone calls asking them to pass these bills out of committee.

They need to hear a loud cry from the pro-life community:
No, do not move these bills. We do not want a state where assisted suicide is easy or allowed.

These State Representatives need to hear your voice to reinforce and assure them that ASSISTED SUICIDE is not wanted in Michigan.

WHAT TO DO TODAY:

Can you take 5 minutes to call or email the House Committee members on House Government Operations in Lansing? Click here for their names/emails. Please forward this email to your friends to ask them to do the same.

TALKING POINTS:

Please let them know that people facing difficult medical conditions need help and medical care to ease their pain. But making assisted suicide easy, and legal drugs available to kill them is not the solution.

  • Legalizing assisted suicide puts the elderly and disabled at greater risk for coercion and abuse.
  • Insurance companies may deny coverage for treatment while offering assisted suicide as a cheaper alternative.
  • Both the American Medical Association and the Michigan State Medical Society oppose legalizing physician-assisted suicide.
