The history and stories preserved at Bonegilla Migrant Experience are an important part of Australia’s immigration history. From the original buildings and historic grounds to the immersive exhibitions, displays and inspired artwork on site, preserving this place for future generations is at the heart of what we do.

To support that work, regular public opening days will change from Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The site will be open from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with these days selected based on visitor demand.

The change will provide more time to undertake important preservation, restoration and maintenance across the site, helping to protect the place and stories that make it so significant.

Visitors will still be able to enjoy the site during regular opening days, while group tour bookings and events will also be available outside these times by appointment.

This is a positive and proactive step that will help ensure the site can continue preserving and sharing Australia’s immigration story for years to come.
