Today, we celebrate Flag Day and honor one of the most recognizable symbols of freedom in the world: the American flag. For nearly 250 years, the Stars and Stripes have represented the ideals that make our nation exceptional—liberty, opportunity, self-government, and the enduring belief that all people are created equal.
Our flag has flown over battlefields, front porches and graves for centuries. It has been carried by generations of brave Americans who answered the call to defend our nation and preserve the freedoms we often take for granted. Each star and stripe serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who came before us and the responsibility we share to protect the blessings of liberty for future generations.
As we observe Flag Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what our flag represents and the countless Americans who have served under it. May we never lose sight of the principles that unite us as a nation and the pride we should all take in being Americans. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
Sincerely,
Senator Kevin Blackwell
