Sen. Cornyn really doesn’t get what Texans are going through, y’all.

First he called expanded unemployment insurance during this pandemic “a mistake.” Then, he wasted months while a bill to extend unemployment insurance sat gathering dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk. Now, he’s left town as the Senate adjourned for a recess!

It’s unbelievable. Texans are facing an unprecedented crisis. Hundreds of thousands have lost their jobs while a public health emergency ravages our state. Many families are barely able to afford food and health care, in a state that already had the highest uninsured rate in the country.

MJ gets it. She grew up in a working-class family and knows just how hard it can be to put food on the table. She’s waited tables, worried about unpaid bills, and faced company layoffs with a preexisting condition -- her pregnancy. She’s lived it, so she gets it.

In the midst of the worst pandemic in generations, we deserve better than a senator who calls that “a mistake.”
