Dear John,

Labour has a hidden bill of more than $18 billion with no plan for how they’ll pay for it.

So far, their spending promises add up to $21b while their new Capital Gains Tax would raise $2.8b. That leaves a gap of $18.2b.

Chris Hipkins must be up front with New Zealanders about how he plans to fill that gap and whether it’s by increasing taxes or increasing borrowing.

It is now just under five months until the election and New Zealanders have no idea how Labour would meet its spending commitments.

This is the same old Labour who left country in a mess and will make a mess again. The same old Labour who borrow and spend recklessly - and Kiwis always foot the bill.

National is the party of responsible economic management. That’s the least Kiwis deserve from their government. No one that hides the bill.
